| DIRECTOR - IC VERIFICATION ENGINEERING (DIGITAL VERIFICATION) ATHEROS COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR - IC VERIFICATION ENGINEERING (DIGITAL VERIFICATION) Due to company growth, Atheros Communications is seeking an seasoned DIRECTOR OF IC VERIFICATION ENGINEERING, to fill a newly created position within our dynamic engineering team in downtown Toronto (Ontario). This is a newly created, full time/direct hire position that reports to the Director of Engineering. ABOUT OUR COMPANY Atheros Communications is a leading developer of semiconductor system solutions for wireless and other network communications products. Atheros combines its wireless and networking systems expertise with high-performance radio frequency (RF), mixed signal and digital semiconductor design skills to provide highly integrated chipsets that are manufactured on low-cost, standard complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) processes. Atheros technology is being used by a broad base of leading customers, including personal computer, networking equipment and consumer device manufacturers. JOB FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITIES As the Director of Digital Verification within the PLC IC team in Toronto, this position is responsible for team leadership, certifying that each IC meet all of its functional performance goals and metrics according to the appropriate MRD, Design Specifications, and applicable industry standards, and for the defining-planning-executing phases of product development. • Functions as team's main organizer and coordinating force in the development of verification strategy, architecture, and implementation. • Directs verification plan, project schedule and implementation, and communication of plan status to the rest of the engineering development teams. • Drives the team's process improvement process; incorporates new techniques to be utilized by the team to improve verification efficacy. • Directs teams' Continuous Process Improvement Program (CPI) regarding verification coupling, and develops individual team members by improving their technical and soft skills. • Coordinates CPI not only with own team but also with the Directors of the IC Design and Software Development Teams. EDUCTION REQUIRED Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. A Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering is highly desired, and candidates with this education level will be given preference in candidate selection process. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED • The individual selected for this position must have strong prior work experience leading a successful verification engineering team, including 10+ years of success directing an IC Verification Engineering Department. • Significant prior hands-on work experience with HDL (VERILOG or VHDL) • Directs the design and development process using constrained-random and object-oriented verification environments such as VERA, "e", System Verilog etc. • Directs the verification process, interaction flow with design engineers. • Has extensive prior work experience in developing Business Functional Models. • Plans verification test benches. • Has solid experience scripting languages. OTHER REQUIREMENTS • MUST BE ABLE TO LEGALLY WORK IN ONTARIO • Must be available for April 2010 hire. • Must have strong organization, communication, leadership, teamwork, and concept presentation skills • Will be required to adapt quickly to changing priorities/ deadlines.
