| Development Manager JOB DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Development Manager will focus on prospecting and acquiring new sources of funding such as monthly donors, sponsorship, and major gifts in addition to stewarding existing funding relationships. Being part of a small staff team, the individual will work closely with the Executive and Program Directors. DEVELOPMENT MANAGER KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Marketing / Communications / Relationship Management • Direct and coordinate staff and volunteers in activities related to fundraising for Meal Exchange’s national office. • Create an annual fundraising plan and timeline with support from the Executive Director and board members. • Create tailored sponsorship packages and acquire sponsorship for Meal Exchange’s flagship program Trick or Eat® as well as program sponsorships. • Manage and grow Meal Exchange’s monthly donor program. • Prospect new grant opportunities from both public and private sectors and write applications on an ongoing basis. • Successfully steward existing major donors to keep them abreast with current Meal Exchange happenings which ensures ongoing support and ultimately growth of financial commitments. • Assist with the management of the Meal Exchange contact database using GiftWorks. • Managing relationships with current and potential funding partners. • Other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS/ASSETS: • A post-secondary degree or diploma. • A post-secondary certificate, degree, or diploma in fundraising, fund development an asset. • Minimum 1-3 years of full time experience in fundraising/ development. • CFRE designation an asset. • Proven experience acquiring and creating strategy for major gifts (both individual donors and foundations), and corporate sponsorship. • Proven experience writing grants and proposals. • Experience in organizing monthly giving and annual campaigns. • Excellent public speaking and written communication skills. • Proven ability to take initiative and engage in active learning. • Experience working with senior leaders and a proven track record of success in building successful relationships with donors and in negotiating major gifts. • Experience in managing budgets. • Exceptional computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and ease in using the Internet. • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills. • Attention to detail and ability to multitask, able to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment is mandatory. • Resourceful and tenacious. OVERALL: Ideal candidate is self-aware and self-motivated, making her/him able to succeed in fast-paced and changing environment. This dynamic individual has a passion for attacking new challenges and an ability to see and capitalize on opportunities to grow the organization and achieve its current and long term objectives. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The successful candidate will be working as an integral part of the organization with two additional staff members. Meal Exchange is a professional but informal environment which is fast-paced and continually changing as the organization grows. Ability to travel (primarily within the GTA) and flexibility in scheduling for weekday and occasional weekend events (day and evening) will be needed. High degree of personal interaction with staff, volunteers, donors, and board members, is critical to this position. | |
