Change Maker - Mentor Programme

Orientation — we encourage mentors to invest in their personal leadership development by
▪ Attending Esurio: Meal Exchange’s annual leadership conference.
▪ Completing Mentor eXchange modules that will guide you through key mentoring areas including: Mentoring Overview; Sharing Knowledge; Advising Students; Facilitating Growth; Getting Started.

Training and Support — on-going training and development opportunities will be provided through:
▪ Interactive web-conferencing sessions that will be conducted bi-annually to facilitate communication, networking, and group development with mentors and mentees.
▪ Sector-related development and continuing education opportunities available through our online knowledge centre with information on; hunger and food security in Canada, youth engagement, service learning, non-profit management and social innovation.

▪ External training and/or community-based sessions that will be communicated to mentors with opportunities for training stipends where applicable.
▪ Support from Meal Exchange national office. We will offer you feedback, and learning opportunities to develop you as a mentor and community leader. Meal Exchange is committed to building the mentor/mentee relationship through face-to-face meetings where possible. Funding for travel will be made avail-
able to mentors where applicable.
▪ Networking opportunities with fellow Change-Makers and Meal Exchange’s network of stakeholders will
provide you with valuable connections to citizen-sector and business-sector contacts.

Building Your Mentor Relationship — As part of your mentor role, we expect you to build relationships through:
▪ Communicating and facilitating communication with your mentee on a regular basis.
▪ Assisting your mentee with goal-setting which includes both chapter and personal goals.
▪ Working with your mentee to build chapter sustainability through operating funds, campus-club status,
and/or student union referendum.
▪ Committing 10-15 hours per month (mainly project/campaign-based focus).
