| Communications Coordinator Communications Coordinator Job Description The Communications Coordinator will report to the Project Manager and Executive Director. Working closely with the staff team and community partners, the Communications Coordinator will oversee specialized communications areas such as our newsletter, media releases and reports to stakeholders. The Communications Coordinator will have opportunities to take the lead on a specific project or event as well as be a key team member for all of our projects. Candidates MUST be part of a family unit that is in receipt of Ontario Works AND Ontario Child Benefits. Responsibilities • Help plan, implement and evaluate special events, festivals and meetings, including marketing and community outreach; • Write content for print materials including advertising, posters, brochures, newsletters; • Seek out and respond to media opportunities; • Work collaboratively with staff, board of directors, committees, partnering organizations and volunteers; • Plan, develop, manage and update databases and contact lists; • Other duties as assigned. Skills and Qualifications • Experience in communications, marketing and special event planning; • Experience in developing marketing and communications strategies; • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; • Fundraising and sponsorship-seeking experience an asset; • Excellent skills in developing and enhancing relationships with partners, volunteers, funders; • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team; • Comfortable working in a Windows environment; • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and some evenings; • Ability to prioritize workload, manage time effectively and coordinate demanding activities and multiple projects; Compensation: $16.00 Hours: Full time (30 hours per week) To apply: • Deadline for submission: 5:00 pm on Friday March 27, 2009 Proof of receipt of Ontario Works and Ontario Child Benefits will be required.
